Our Vision:
A world where African people as well as everyone in every community is aware of the existence of HIV and the risk it poses to mankind and to establish good systems and structures to prevent prejudice, stigma, discrimination and poor sexual health, is a right and reality for all.
Our Mission
- To promote and maximise sexual health in the United Kingdom and other parts of the world, and minimise the spread of HIV and STIs, by encouraging people to value their sexual health and by leading innovation to increase access to local sexual health services.
- To support and empower Africans living with HIV to understand the importance of adherence to medication and to maximise their health and wellbeing by working to ensure the best possible HIV treatment and support services are accessed
- Take a leading role on all African HIV related issues and to eradicate stigma and discrimination.
- To work with the community in researching, identifying and addressing all health inequalities that affect the community.

Objectives
- To develop a team of employed and volunteer staff who are committed to the values of the organisation, and are competent to work together to deliver the objectives. Build on our current status to be a recognised sexual health promotion organisation.
- Build a good international structure and support
- To establish effective governance arrangements monitored by a trained and established Executive Committee who will ensure that a competent management team deliver the business plan.
- To actively participate in and develop partnerships both locally, nationally and internationally to progress our organisational objectives.
- To Promote the organisation’s work and reputation to ensure widespread recognition and support for our mission and values.
- To promote a positive view of sexual health and uptake of voluntary testing and to influence policy and social views that impact negatively on our HIV/AIDS service users.
- To secure funding to develop new and existing services, and to ensure that services are responsive to the views of service users and specific vulnerable groups in the community.
- To ensure staff performances are regularly monitored, assessed and evaluated periodically.
Services in Brief
1. Community Sexual Health Education Project (CSHEP) activities /HIV Prevention Project
- CHAT educates the community on sexual health issues and HIV/AIDS prevention. This program enables the participants to be aware of safe sex, sexual health risk behaviours and prevention methods as measure to prevent sexually transmitted infections and the spread of HIV/AIDS.
- CHAT works with Faith Leaders- training them on HIV/AIDS awareness and the values of encouraging safe sex and behaviour change in the congregation members.
- We also provide extensive outreach work in the community, reaching people on one to one, via Supermarkets, GP surgeries, social events etc and placing stalls in strategic outlets for information dissemination on Sexually transmitted infections and HIV Prevention.
2.Care Support Project Activities
- Continuation of Peer Training Projects: those people trained are engaged to work in the community as care providers to those people living with AIDS related illnesses.
- Support identified volunteers to progress on to achieving NVQ II/III in care and other social care qualifications to improve their social–economic status while helping the community.
- Promoting independence by supporting and encouraging clients to get back to active lifestyle
3. Health Trainers Project Activities
- Trained community members to be Health Trainers in delivering health messages to community members on various health inequalities, including, smoke cessation, diabetics, healthy eating, exercise, HIV awareness, behaviour change methodologies and generic health promotion work.
- Coordinating outreach sessions in the community and developing referral pathways linking services with GP surgeries delivering smoking cessation; healthy eating, physical activity etc.
- Preparing Health Trainers for the next step following training. This could be in voluntary work or in paid employment.
CHAT vision is to ensure that whatever direction these individuals pursue in meeting their personal obligations; they still continue to function as community Health Champions.
